Grab a coffee—let’s dive in and take flight to new heights!
Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate field reports in 6 minutes—doesn't this sound slick? But does it work in the real world, or will it absolutely dominate the industry? Last week, I field-tested my own system again and came up with a set of sophisticated questions that can be asked to guide ChatGPT's response. This will become available on Sunday, so subscribe so that you don't miss out. Here's what's worth finding out before Sunday:
🚁 Real-World Wins
Speed is unbeatable
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can turn a set of site images into a two-page report in seconds—ideal when you're under pressure from your boss on a remote field job to get information out quickly.
JPEGs are the minimum
Software companies, for example DroneDeploy, use JPEGs. However, RAW files could offer more data. The trade-off? Bigger files and more processing, but better captured details in the photograph.
It cuts the fluff
Instead of wasting time analysing photos line by line, you can draft a full report fast if you ask Artificial Intelligence (AI) the right structured questions.
⚠️ Where You’ll Trip Up
The words can lie
Just because the AI writes in a "smart" way doesn't mean it's accurate. It can look professional and still be way off the mark.
Most common mistake? Vague prompts
If the photo hasn’t been isolated, labelled, and described properly — AI will miss critical details. It can’t interpret context without guidance.
Still needs a human to verify
A manager, geologist, or site expert still needs to sign off and double-check the image matches the written report — no exceptions.
